This case study by Cecilie Wittnebel examines how Kold College’s Danish Dairy VET programme has
integrated digital tools to enhance teaching, student motivation, and learning through the CoVE project.
Recognizing that many teachers lacked confidence and skills with digital tools, the programme
implemented “train the trainer” workshops, peer mentoring, and knowledge-sharing conferences to build
competence in tools such as ThingLink, H5P, Aha-slides, and Mentimeter. These hands-on initiatives
encouraged teachers to upgrade existing materials into more interactive formats and supporting diverse
learning needs by including students with dyslexia or concentration challenges.
Results showed improved engagement in several courses, though challenges remained when teachers or
students lacked sufficient guidance on using a specific digital tool. The study highlights that digital tools are
most effective when integrated thoughtfully into pedagogy and didactic practices, combined with
traditional methods, and supported by ongoing professional development. Future focus will be on
sustaining momentum through peer-led learning, ensuring teachers model digital competence, and
preparing students for a digitally connected dairy industry
